If you are familiar with the AnAppADay project (http://www.anappaday.com’) you have probably heard of Jedi’s “Jedi Concentrate” app (Day 10: Jedi Concentrate). 2 hours after its release, I released a version with options for setting the opacity and fade speed.
UPDATE: Added Option for picking fade color (9/26/2006)

Stupid me … did not hit F12 … guys, just hit F12 to toggle this on/off … somehow I expected that this thing goes on automagically and follows the focus … well it does not
Options needs to be saved to be effective and opacity above 50 makes overlays go completly blank.
Nice one anyways …

Does not blank all windows on W2000SP4, triple monitor setup.
Good idea, but i guess i have to program it myself (with old fashioned c , jedic consumes 11 megs memory!)

Theres some sort of bug with dual monitors. I can’t troubleshoot it becuase it works for me. Also, “JediC”? lol — its .NET 2.0. If you can’t spare 11MB of memory, you need a new computer.

It’s slow, but but no fault of yours, windows still uses the CPU for VGA adapter effects and thus uses 100% CPU on a dualcore intel, with dual monitor using matrox twinhead, these type of effects will be so much smoother on Vista which is supposed to use GPU effects for the UI instead of CPU. Cool work anyhow. I’ll still use it for presentations.

Nice improvement on the original — I’ve been looking for a program along these lines for months.
One small problem — the icon in the system tray refuses to stay always hidden (I’m using XP SP2). In the list for “Customize Notifications,” the program shows up as . Would that explain why?

Just wanted to add — the systen tray icon could be more visually pleasing. Perhaps a small back-grey rectangle with a little white rectangle within it? That’d give a clearer idea of what the program does.

@admin: Regarding the overlays this is perhaps a misinterpretation of what exactly is using overlays. I use a tool called dreamview which let’s me view my sat receivers video stream on my desktop via VLC ActiveX control. This video goes blank when opacity is greater than 50. On either screen. Also videos in Windows Media Player go blank.
Dual screen handling with NVidia drivers seems a bit hard to interpret for some applications anyways. I run in Dual View mode which is unique for the drivers, ATI might handle this differently.
